This is the 3rd year in a row we’ve played croquet on the battery in downtown Charleston, South Carolina.
It started with me talking to my friend Matt about this idea I had to play croquet at the battery and dress up all snooty (basically the culture in that part of downtown). Matt loved the idea, and thought it would be fun to do. A few weeks later we started our first game, which we used as my birthday celebration. There were six of us. 3 guys. 3 girls. The men dressed in bow ties and any other accessories typical to the “Charleston Uniform.” The ladies wore sun dresses and big hats. It was cold, but we had a great time anyway.
We had so much fun that we did it again the next year, and drew a crowd of about 20. This year we missed my birthday, but we played this past Saturday anyway, simply for the love of the game. Some people got scared off by the rain that was basically nonexistent the entire time we were out there. Their bad. This is just a sample of what’s to come.
