Leaving the West Coast

March 5, 2012

The boys took off from Torrey Pines Park just north of San Diego this morning.  They dipped their tires and headed off up the hills.  They’ll be doing somewhere near 5500 feet of climbing today.  The majority of the guys are nearly half way finished with the day already.

Geoff, one of our riders has been having difficulty with the heat.  I guess when you train on the cold roads of England there isn’t much you can do to prepare for Souther California’s deserts.

We’re just getting out feet wet with the logistics.  It’s quite frantic at the moment when they stop, but soon we’ll get a system down of what they need and how they need it done.  Thankfully, Simon’s father David is riding along with us for the first few days and has been absolutely indispensable for helping me keep my sanity at this point.  Lunch soon!

Dipping the back tire in the Pacific, eventually dipping the front tire in the Atlantic.
